Color in Your Life

Tips from the Pros

by Lisa Samuel

The onset of cool, crisp fall weather always invokes the inevitability of winter. My thoughts immediately migrate to the warmth and coziness of home. New Mexico’s beautiful fall colors in the magnificent sunsets, the golden leaves of aspen trees and the rocky tone-on-tone landscape set against the bluest of blue skies, never fail to evoke awe.

The colors in this palette are from nature, the truest source of inspiration in work by Samuel Design Group. They bring the outdoors in, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that is necessary at all times, but especially in winter. I refer to the colors in this palette as “semi-neutrals.” They produce a sense of timelessness, and the result is not only comfortable, but also chic and sophisticated. The five colors in this palette — Monarch Migration, With the Grain, Vintage Ephemera, Barnwood Gray and Citrus Notes, and— are from Dunn Edwards Paints’ “Then, Now & Forever” collection.
