SOFA comes to Santa Fe

SOFA is coming to Santa Fe! Do you know what SOFA is? SOFA stands for Sculptural Object, Functional Art. It considered one of the largest art shows of its kind, featuring beautiful objects of all kinds. The show is not focused on two-dimensional artwork as much as it is on three dimensional ceramic, sculpture, wood and a variety of other materials, manipulated to form incredible art.

SOFA was founded more than 15 years ago in Chicago and has since expanded to New York. For the first time ever, SOFA is coming to Santa Fe with an opening night private event on June 10. The entire show will be open to the public on June 11-13 at Santa Fe’s new Community Convention Center. This represents further evidence of Santa Fe’s standing as a major national art center, attracting galleries and art lovers from around the world. At least on SOFA’s terms, we’re in the league with Chicago and New York.

In anticipation of this Santa Fe-bound show, I recently attended SOFA Chicago. The innovative arts represented there were beyond description. Especially amazing was the assortment of glass work. Santa Fe has seen significant shows featuring glass this past year however the quality and innovative artistic shapes seen at SOFA will truly amaze.
