Today’s headlines are filled with doom and gloom stories regarding the economy and the housing industry. In parts of the country, it is true, housing prices have steadily plummeted over the last year or so, while at the same time foreclosures have been increasing.

 

For those of us fortunate enough to live in New Mexico, our experience is somewhat different than those portrayed in the national media. Overall, compared to other parts of the country, homes here did not see huge increases in value over the past couple of decades and likewise, they have not seen the sharp drops either.
